Regardless of project scope, we always make sure to facilitate a seamless process for our customers, whether that is direct customers, contractors, or end-users. In this project summary, our ICAD engineers worked with a mechanical process contractor and a seed technology solutions company, as the end-user, to design and install a seed processing line. ICAD used the contractor’s detailed design and process description to create a control design & network for a fully functioning seed processing line.
Project Details:
Scope of Work
- Provide control panels, associated programming, and selected instrumentation based on customer specifications and the Piping & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID).
- On-site commissioning with mechanical process contractor for a harmonious start-up process.
Collaboration
- The mechanical process contractor supplied and installed equipment (Centricoater, Glycol Chiller, Dryer).
- ICAD (the integrator) handled field devices and controls integration & programming.
Materials Provided
- Motor Control Panel-101 with NEMA 12 Fans for temperature control.
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)-Siemens S7-1500.
- Operator Station (Win CC HMI).

- Start/Stop Pushbutton Stations (3)
- Proximity Switches (12)
- Thermocouple Probes with Thermowells (18)
- Pressure Transmitters (8)
- Differential Pressure Transmitters (2)
Total Signals:
- 89 Discrete Inputs
- 72 Discrete outputs
- 29 Analog inputs
Results
The collaborative approach displayed above bridges the gap between mechanical and controls expertise. This results in successful seed processing line installations for the end-user.
Mechanical contractors benefit from streamlined integration, risk reduction, and enhanced reputation. On the end-user side, they enjoy reliable performance and long-term support.
